The Officers of UGA's Ballroom Social and Dance Club are dedicated to provide you with the best experience possible. They are experienced in both dancing and leadership. If you're at a lesson and have a question about anything, whether it be how to do a certain move, constructive criticism on your form, or anything else, just pull one of these guys aside! They will be glad to assist you.

Maddie began dancing her freshman year of college when a friend brought her to a local swing dance. Later that year, she discovered ballroom and auditioned that November. Since then, she has competed and placed 1st in the Newcomer division of the 2016 Atlanta Swing Classic, a West Coast Swing competition. She also enjoys teaching and DJing social dances. Maddie is thankful that she has found such a wonderful group of people with a shared love.

Nico stumbled across ballroom dancing serendipitously one day as he perused through the schedule of courses looking for an extra 1 credit hour course to satisfy the full-time student minimum of 12 credit hours. He has since fallen in love with dancing and appreciates the challenge it poses. Nico also plays club ultimate for UGA, is a mentor in the Clarke County Mentorship Program, and researches in a psychology lab on campus. In his free time he enjoys hiking, camping, appreciating nature, traveling, and spending time with his friends.

Meet the Officers!

Kaitlyn is a junior at UGA, majoring in finance with a minor in French. Before college, she did Tae Kwon-Doe, was on her high school golf team, and in her high school art department. She began ballroom dancing her freshman year of college and is a member of the Ballroom Performance Group at UGA. Dancing is her favorite thing because she loves how each dance style has a personality and you get to take on that spirit when you dance it. Her favorite styles are west coast swing, rumba, and waltz. She is super excited to be secretary of the Ballroom and Social Dance Club this year because she wants everyone to enjoy dancing as much as she does, and she loves getting to know such an amazing group of people.

Alex took Ballroom Foundations his freshman year and was immediately hooked. He continues to seek opportunities to dance, loving the community and overall experience. When he isn't fulfilling his addiction to dancing, Alex enjoys working with computers and reading about economics.

Ksenia

Wood

Events Coordinator

From the depths of Siberia, Ksenia has made her way to Athens, GA and discovered something amazing: Ballroom dance. She quickly came to love it, for it meant teamwork, socializing, problem solving, exercising, and creating something artistic all at the same time. Since then, she has joined the Ballroom Performance Group, competed in the Atlanta Open, taught lessons, and DJed for ballroom events. She is also currently in the Ballroom and Social Dance Club to further her dancing and help others do the same. Her favorite dance is Tango because "it's so spicy and fierce yet, like other smooth dances, it's also very sensitive".
